When It's Organic, Fertilizer Isn’t Your Best Defense
With the strict regulations that govern organic, fertilizer isn’t in the arsenal. That makes the methods that are available to organic farmers all the more important. Applying a thick layer of mulch is the best defense for organic farmers because it helps keep the weeds down.
Applying mulch to organic vineyards and orchards is easy with a banding conveyor for material discharge. BBI’s banding conveyor is used to throw out material in two perfectly straight mounds – perfect for rows of orchard and vineyard crops.
The banding conveyor spreader is especially suitable for Florida blueberry growers, who have begun growing their crops hydroponically – meaning the berries are grown on top of the ground in about 6 inches of mulch.
For More Than Just Alternative Organic Fertilizer
Banding conveyors are suitable for practically any crop since it provides an accurate means of discharging material (lime, fertilizer, mulch, etc.) directly where the plant lives. A banding conveyor is used in place of spinners to apply fertilizer in a straight line as opposed to broadcasting it. This allows for concentrated distribution which uses less chemicals and optimizes fertilization by reaching the plant and not the weeds or grass around it.
