Variable Spreader Options
The popularity of variable spreaders has risen greatly due to its ability to provide the optimal level of fertilizer, lime, or other materials to a specific area of a field. The increased popularity has also lead many to question which spreaders can be utilized for variable rate application.
If you're searching for a variable spreader, your search doesn't have to be difficult. In fact, any BBI hydraulic spreader, including the Mega, Endurance and Liberty lines, are provisioned for variable rate application. The central component of any variable spreader is the GPS-enabled computer that identifies the location and speed of the spreader, which works in-tandem with a speed sensor and hydraulic fluid valve on the spreader to disperse the appropriate amount of material.
Specifically, the sensor measures output by gauging how fast the bed chain, which disperses the material, is moving based on the number of gear teeth that go by during a specific internal. The rate is adjusted by the valve that controls the rate at which hydraulic fluid is released. Releasing more fluid increases the speed of the conveyor. This in turn discharges more material.
Variable rate application is a dynamic process that is easily implemented and managed with any Mega, Endurance or Liberty variable spreader from BBI.
